My first trip of the year was to Hong Kong for a weekend to catch Phoenix in concert (which I flailed about here. Best concert everrrr!). It was a short trip but a memorable one. There's something to be said about chill weekend solo trips - there's very little preparation to be made (for this one, it consisted of me cramming my booking for accommodations) and very little luggage to be packed (especially as I didn't pay for check-in luggage).
There's also something very liberating about a no-itinerary trip. There were only three things on my to-do list for this Hong Kong weekender: (1) find the mythical Prada outlet of urban legend; (2) attend the concert; and (3) eat, eat, eat.

Urban Pack Hostel is conveniently located across the street from the Tsim Sha Tsui station. It's a great place to stay if you're traveling solo and are looking to meet new people!
Saliva Chicken Rice! Believe it or not, I ordered it because of its very weird (and kind of gross) name.
Gateway to Prada heaven.
I found it! A bunch of other people did too, apparently. Guess it's not a very well-kept secret. The bus ride and 30-minute wait was worth the discount on my first ever (and most likely last) Prada though. There was also a Marc by Marc Jacobs outlet store nearby. I'll write about my outlet shopping adventures soon.

Stunning sky line
I've never seen a place quite like Hong Kong. The contrast between the glass and steel and the green of the mountains in the background is simply stunning...the whole place is a modern marvel and it only gets better as it gets dark and the lights come on. I can see why this is rated the best skyline in the world. Incredible.
